Bucharest

The city flaunts a blend of French, Byzantine, and communist architecture with its many stylish buildings. Though much of the center is modern and garish, you will find splendid 17th and 18th-century Orthodox churches and elegant Art Nouveau villas. A must-see is the Old Town, one of Bucharest’s earliest settlements and the former home of several Wallachian Princes.

Sibiu

The largest and richest of the seven fortified towns, Sibiu is where the first hospital and pharmacy in Romania were established, the first book was printed, and the oldest museum in Romania, the Brukenthal National Museum, was built. The main square – Piața Sfatului – is lined with relaxed cafés. The Gothic cathedral Biserica Neagră – Black Church – is one of the main attractions of the city.

Sighișoara

With cobbled streets and colorful buildings, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a must-visit during your trip to Romania. Sighișoara is also famous as the birthplace of Vlad III, more commonly known as Vlad Dracula, the exact location of which is marked with a plaque that reads ‘Casa Vlad Dracul’.
